Steps for the deployment of the Remedy for Log4j 1.x vulnerabilities in Quark Publishing Platform 15.x

Background: Log4Shell vulnerable jars were found, which may trigger false positives in vulnerability scanners, below remedy will fix the same.

Applies: Quark Publishing Platform (QPP)15.x

Solution:
Required QPP 15.1 installer: Quark Publishing Platform 15.1_32147

Documents:
  • QPP 15.1 Deployment Document.docx (Refers This Document).
  • SQLServer-DB-Migration-Steps.docx (Refer Article 000002621).

Following steps to be performed on QPP Server machine:

QPP Server

1. Backup (to be taken when QPP Server is down)
  1. Take backup of the existing QPP 15.x server folder (C:\Program Files\Quark\Quark Publishing Platform\Server).
  2. Take full backup of QPP 15.x database.

2. Uninstall
  1. Uninstall the current QPP Server 15.x.
  2. Go to C:\Program Files\Quark\Quark Publishing Platform\Server and remove any left-over files.

3. New Installation
  1. Install QPP 15.1 server as fresh installation. Use the setup.exe available in the installer Quark Publishing Platform 15.1_32147\Installer\Quark Publishing Platform Server\setup.exe
 
  1. Update QPP 15.x database to 15.1. (Refer the steps in Article 000002621 “SQLServer-DB-Migration-Steps.docx”)
 
  1. Before starting QPP server 15.1, perform the below steps.
  1. Replace the following files from 15.x server backup folder to latest 15.1 server path:
i) Managerconfig.xml = C:\Program Files\Quark\Quark Publishing Platform\Server\conf
ii) Server.xml = C:\Program Files\Quark\Quark Publishing Platform\Server\conf
